Woburn Host Lions Club Proudly Inducts Four New Members

Recently, the Woburn Host Lions welcomed four new members.  Shown above are Mike Tierno, Lions President Lew Best, Bud Fuller, Dino Vasile, and John Serson.  With the addition of the newest members, the Host Lions Club total membership now surpasses one hundred men who work to help find a cure for blindness while also supporting many local charities.

A main goal of our club is to raise funds for Massachusetts Lions Eye Research.  These funds enable the medical research staffs of institutions such as Tufts Medical, Boston University, Schepens Institute, Children's Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear to find cures for eye diseases and to develop new treatment methods for traumatic eye injuries.  We are very proud of the fact that we are one of only four Lions clubs in Massachusetts to have donated over $525,000 to the Eye Research Fund.   The annual Halloween Parade, organized by our club for over 60 years, is one of our major fund raising efforts with all proceeds directed to MLERF.

Our club is one of 46,000 clubs with 1.35 million members which make us the world's largest service club organization. We're also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help our local communities. Some of the local organizations we support include the Council of Social Concern, Woburn Memorial High School Scholarship Fund, Girls and Boys Club of Woburn, both Woburn and Winchester Senior Centers, and numerous youth programs.  Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet, we're here to help.

The Woburn Host Lions meet every Thursday evening at 6:30PM at the Crowne Plaza hotel.  Drop by if you are interested in joining an energetic and fun group of folks determined to make life better for others.
